Join us for a Mead Tasting!

Kinsale Mead Co was founded by Kate and Denis Dempsey in 2016 to rediscover the ancient art of mead making and to create a world-class range of light and refreshing drinks. It is the oldest drink in the world dating back to around 6,500 BC with a rich and glorious history.

Mead, sometimes known as ‘honey wine’ in its purest form, is simply honey and water, carefully fermented using yeast and then aged to allow the flavours to blend and mature. Kinsale Mead's secret lies in making the perfect choice of honey, ripe berries and the intricate science of fermentation and maturation, similar to making grape wine. Each batch is carefully mixed, fermented and matured with care and passion and attention to quality and sustainability.

In 2025 Kinsale Mead awards included medals at the European Mead Cup, The Irish Quality Awards and Blas na hEireann - the Irish Food and Drink Awards

We will taste six different styles of mead, all 11-12% ABV and fermented from off dry to semi-sweet. The 3 main meads in the signature series as well as 3 special, limited edition meads. We'll talk about the fascinating history all around the world, how modern mead is made in Ireland as well as in the USA. We'll talk about food pairing including some Irish cheese and chocolate samples and hear about Kinsale Mead's story from bees to bottles!

Pricing for this is inclusive of the Irish cheese pairing and Koko's of Kinsale chocolate €30 pp
